Note: The iwlwifi driver has been merged into mainline kernel since 2.6.24. If you are using kernels after this release, please use the intree (drivers/net/wireless/iwlwifi) driver directly.

Welcome to the open source site hosting Intel's wireless projects for Linux. Here you will find information about the Linux-based wireless drivers for Intel adapters.

This site hosts the open source iwlwifi project for use with the following hardware (support for different hardware depends on kernel version used):

the minimum version is indicated below

Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N 6235 (3.2.0)
Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 2230 (3.2.0)
Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 2200 (3.2.0)
Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 105 (3.2.0)
Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 135 (3.2.0)
Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 100 (2.6.37)
Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 130 (2.6.37)
Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N 6230 (2.6.36)
Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 1030 (2.6.36)
Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N 6205 (2.6.35)
Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N + WiMAX 6150 (2.6.30)
Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250 (2.6.30)
Intel® Centrino® Ultimate-N 6300 (2.6.30)
Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N 6200 (2.6.30)
Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 1000 (2.6.30)
Intel® Wireless WiFi 5150AGN (2.6.29)
Intel® Wireless WiFi 5100AGN, 5300AGN, and 5350AGN (2.6.27)
Intel® Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN (2.6.24)
Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection adapter (2.6.24)

There used to be a driver specific for the 3945 hardware (ipw3945 hosted on ipw3945.sourceforge.net). This project is deprecated, please use the iwlwifi driver instead.

Projects for older hardware are hosted on Sourceforge:

Intel® PRO/Wireless 2100 Network Connection adapter
Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection adapter
Intel® PRO/Wireless 2915ABG Network Connection adapter

Drivers for the 2100/2200/2915 devices can be found in any recent kernel so it is not necessary to obtain the source code from the project page. Even so, their project pages do still contain some useful information as well as the firmware.
